Casa de la Molinera

Museums ( Riba-Roja de Túria )

In the 15th century, on the banks of the river Turia, this mill was built to grind grains to obtain flour. During medieval times, the mill was owned by the lords of the barony of de Riba-roja. In 1897, with the abolition of the lordships, the Count sold the mill to Bautista Martí Broseta. It was his son, Ramón Martí Paredes, who installed the Buhler system, (at that time it was the most modern milling machinery in existence) and the mill went bankrupt and was repossessed.
Finally, in 1944 it was bought by Manuel Alamar Mocholí. After his death, it was his wife who took over the management of the mill. His family built the miller’s house, which served as the family residence, administrative centre and mill store. In 1998, the Town Council of Riba-roja de Túria obtained the property, making the Casa de la Molinera available for visitors. The mill is currently recognised as an Ethnological asset.
In it, you can observe elements of the daily life of the miller and her family, where traditional elements are combined with incipient modern technology. There also objects related to the administration of the mill, such as flour samples, an archive with administrative papers and desk objects. And the house has excellent views of the park and the river Turia!
The Casa de la Molinera is one of the most visited places of interest in Riba-roja de Túria.
