Ecomuseum of Aras de los Olmos

Museums ( Aras de los Olmos )

The Ecomuseum of Aras de los Olmos is a space dedicated to preserving and showing the traditional culture of the Serranía and Aras, made up of different elements that highlight the cultural and natural heritage of the area.
In its different parts you can observe the testimony of the different cultures that have left their traces in Aras and Losilla through the buildings, agricultural structures agrarias, different objects, music, stories, customs and beliefs. We can distinguish three:
– The room of the oil mill puts us in the context of the chandlery, in the framework of the traditional economy and beekeeping, one of the most representative activities in the traditional life of the region. The second part recreates the environment of the workshop and shows the process of making wax bread.
– Both the tower and the remains of the primitive wall are preserved among the current buildings. It is a square tower, typically Muslim, built in the 11th century.
– The first floor of the building houses”Francisco Moreno Mesas” archaeological collection, where we can find fragments of pottery, complete vessels, weapons, etc.
