The museum is located in the Plaza del Pueblo ina building dating from1881 where the old Town Hall used to be. Here you can find a faithful reflection of pottery activity from the 12th-13th centuries until the end of the 16th century.
The museum currently has a complete collection of medieval and modern pottery with some 9,000 inventoried pieces. It has rooms dedicated to”Socarrats” and”rodells”, green manganese pottery, blue pottery, common pottery or”obra aspra” and golden pottery among others.
All this makes the museum a reference in the study and conservation of medieval ceramics worldwide. Several countries have taken an interest in this subject and have hosted exhibitions of Paterna ceramics.
