Vicente Miralles Segarra Museum of the History of Telecommunication

The Vicente Miralles Segarra Telecommunications Museum is located in the Scools of Telecommunications Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de València. The origin of the museum’s collection dates back to 1995; since then it has been enlarged and now it houses more than 700 pieces from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, making it the most important collection of its kind in the Valencian Community.
The museum is located in the same building as the ETSIT, sharing the space with teaching and research. The permanent exhibition presents a chronological journey through the 5 areas ofa Telecommunications,with more than 300 pieces exhibited in 52 showcases appropriate to the content.
The collections that make up the permanent exhibition can be visited easily because they are distributed in an educational way on the ground floor and first floor of the 4D building of the School of telecommunications. The museum has access and services for people with reduced mobilty. It is organised into five thematic areas: Telegraphy, Telephony, Audiovisual Equipment, Radiocommunication and Instrumentation. It also has objects related in som way to the world of telecommunications and a library containing books, engravings, notes, magazines and other material.
In addition, the museum staff has dedicated itself to providing the museum with a wide range of documentation: display and exhibit posters, scans of old books, the catalogue of the collection, publications,brochures, videos, didactic guides and, of course, an extensive website http://museotelecomvlc.webs.upv.es/ extend and illustrate the visit.
In accordance with the guidelines of international organisations on museums management, the Vicente Miralles of telecommunications History has the firm intention of conserving, communicating and presenting the cultural assets generated by telecommunications throughout history for study, education and recreation.

The opening hours of the museum are as follows: Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.. (During the month of August it will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
