Museums - Tourist attraction ( València )

ALWAYS OPEN, ALWAYS WITHIN YOUR REACH
The Museu Campus Escultòric de la Universitat Politècnica de València (MUCAES-UPV), recognised on 17th November 2017 by the Conselleria d’Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport, was born in the early 1990s, specifically on 28th October 1993, when the first phase of the outdoor sculptural campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València was inaugurated with thirteen sculptures by plastic artists.
There are currently a total of 78 pieces that make up the museum, making it one of the largest and best outdoor sculpture collections in Spain. This artistic corpus is distributed in the three campuses that make up the Universitat Politècnica de València: Vera campus, in Valencia; Gandia campus and Alcoi campus, although most of the work is in the 108,000 m2 of the landscaped area of the Vera campus. It is a collection by internationally renowned artists. The oldest work is Red Bull by Alberto Sánchez (1962). And the most contemporary is Inverted Pyramid by Damián Ortega (2010).
In addition to the creation of an open artistic space, with a sense of permanence and future conservation, the collection has a significant pedagogical and research intention for the university community, and offers guided tours, a drawing competition for schoolchildren, seminars and workshops given by the authors themselves, and exhibitions derived from the free photography courses on sculptural heritage aimed at members of the university community.
Visiting the Universitat Politècnica de València’s Sculpture Campus Museum is to enter a sensorial circuit where the artist-spectator interaction allows unique dialogues to be generated with the works, ideas, concepts, form and materials of which they are composed.
