Torre de Guaita

Monuments ( Piles )

The Guaita Tower, built in 1573, which formed part of a linear defence system along the coast, is one of the most interesting monuments. In 1986 the tower was restored by the Conselleria de Cultura de la Generalitat Valenciana and registered in the Historic-Artistic Heritage. At the beginning of this century Piles adopted the Tower as the symbol of the town and the official coat of arms of the Town Hall. For various reasons, the Tower was abandoned for many years and in 1986, on the initiative of the Town Council, it was restored to its former glory.
