THE SALT MINES OF JARAGUAS

Monuments ( Venta del Moro )

Called ‘Mina Lolita’. A central well, six smaller wells (although there may have been more), around 25 pools or crystallisation ponds and five areas for drying and loading salt are still preserved. It was public land that various families (around twenty) used to produce salt and supplement their income, as the salt-producing families from Jaraguas exchanged salt for basic foodstuffs.
