Visigothic Museum of Pla de Nadal

The Visigothic Museum of Pla de Nadal -MUPLA-, located in the Castle of Riba-roja, houses pieces found in the archaeological site of Pla de Nadal.
It shows us the history of this exceptional palace built by Teodomiro. It takes a look at its architecture, its decoration and epygraphy. The work of the stonemasons, stucco workers and painters in the building is explained. Finally, more than one hundred pieces of sculpture can be seen, constituing the best collection of decorative art of the Visigothic period in Hispania and one of the most complete in the West.
The museum has excellent accessibility: an accessible itinerary for people with reduced mobility, by means of a lift and some ramps, a model of the Pla de Nadal for the blind, a magnetic loop (with prior notice) and adapted toilets.
This museum was the first in the province of Valencia to obtain the Q for Quality for museums awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality. They have also achieved the”Safe Tourism Certified” certification. This quality seal, promoted by the ICTE together with other entities, aims to implement preventive and safety measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
The museum participates in the project Relecturas. Museum itineraries with a gender tone study, promoted by the University of Valencia and the Generalitat Valenciana. This project seeks to include the gender perpective through the reinterpretation of museum pieces.
