Along with paella, horchata is the most typical product of València. Alboraia, a town next to the Capital, is the land of horchata. It is here where the tigernut is mainly grown, and where most of the production of this refreshing drink, made with water and sugar, takes place. Its refreshing taste, together with its health benefits (it relieves high blood pressure and an excellent choice for uric acid and cholesterol-free diets) have made it an internationally recognised product.
The visitor should not miss the chance to visit Alboraia, where there are many independent horchata houses, to try this drink with fartons (a long sweet bread that is dunked in the horchata)
