Torrella

The area is almost flat and the village is located at an altitude of 135 m above sea level. The only outstanding landforms are “Loma Vella” and the “Hoya” ravine. It lies 6km from Xativa, the capital of the administrative region, and 57km from Valencia. It has a population of approximately 150 inhabitants, and its economy is mainly based on the cultivation and marketing of oranges.

Gastronomy:

Baked rice, paella, “arnadí”, “fogases” and sweet potato cakes are Torella’s most typical dishes.

Places of interest:

The most notable tourist attractions are:

– La Costera Viewpoint
– Parish church of Our Lady of the Angels. Built following the earthquake of 1748. The temple is a typical neoclassical building with a rectangular layout and a single nave surrounded by six small chapels.
– Municipal Ethnological Museum, opened in 1981. It houses an interesting exhibition in which visitors can learn about the collective resources, a heritage from the transformations which the people of Torrella have undergone throughout the village’s history.
– Calle Bix Garden

Festivities:

The main festivities are held the week after Easter, in honour of the Holy Christ of the Calvary, Our Lady of the Angels and Saint Vicente Ferrer.
