The Castle of Vallada is of Muslim origin (11th century), at an altitude of 553 metres, from where it dominates the whole valley of the Cànyoles river.
It formed part of the network of defensive castles in this valley, alongside the castles of Xàtiva, Montesa and Moixent. Partially demolished in the 14th century, the castle was again damaged during the 1748 earthquake.
The pentagonal-shaped enclosure is located in the steepest part of the hilltop. Access is via the El Penyò path or the GR7.
