The altitude of its mountainous landscape ranges from 600 metres to 1100 metres in some areas. It is surrounded by mountain ranges and hills that provide for a splendid landscape. To the north are the so-called \u201cPe\u00f1as de Dios\u201d, offering views over the wide, beautiful landscape. In winter, the habitual appearance of snow serves as a tourist attraction. To the east of \u201cMonte Picayo\u201d and \u201cMonte de Hoz\u201d, to the north-east of \u201cEl Rodeno\u201d, to the south of the forest or \u201cUmbria\u201d. It includes the \u201cViga del Horcajo\u201d pine, which is more than 200 years old. Gastronomy:<\/h4>\r\n\u201cOlla Morro Churra\u201d, stew with pork, lamb, blood sausage, chorizo, bacon, potato, beans and \u201cpencas\u201d (an ingredient that characterizes the dish). \u201cCongretes\u201d are small cakes made with flour, oil, anise and\/or \u201ccazalla\u201d. Once prepared, they are dressed with sugar. \u201cRollos de Aguardiente\u201d, decorated with unshelled almonds. \u201cPan Bendito\u201d, made in the municipal bakery and which is normally eaten on 17th January, Saint Anthony\u2019s Day. \u201cLos Higos Albardaos\u201d, which are basically fritters stuffed with figs.\r\n

Places of interest:<\/h4>\r\nIts architectural heritage include its church dedicated to Saint Barbara, which houses two beautiful effigies of the village\u2019s patron saints: the Holy Christ of Mercy and Saint Barbara, both of carved wood and dating from the 16th-century. Nearby in \u201cCerro de la Vi\u00f1a\u201d there are well-preserved 2nd century Roman ovens. Higueruelas has a camping area in the beautiful setting of \u201cEl Barranco de la Hoz\u201d called \u201cLa Fuente del Lad\u00f3n\u201d. It is equipped with paella-making facilities, toilets and two mountain hostels.\r\n\r\nLocal Trail SL-CV-67 \u201cSenda del pino Reboll\u00f3n y Antiguo Yesar\u201d. The trail runs through a broad representation of the characteristic flora of the Mediterranean bush. The following springs are worth visiting: \u201cFuente del Olmo\u201d (located 300 m from the village) and \u201cFuente del Hoz\u201d, located in the valley of the same name a few metres from the recreational area. \u201cLa Pinada de Higueruelas\u201d, known as \u201cla Umbria\u201d, where we find a pine known locally as \u201cLa Viga del Horcajo\u201d, which measures some 20 metres tall and is an estimated 200 years old.\r\n\r\nTo the north are the so-called \u201cPe\u00f1as de Dios\u201d, offering views over the wide, beautiful landscape. To the east lie \u201cMonte Picayo\u201d and \u201cMonte de Hoz\u201d, and to the northeast \u201cEl Rodeno\u201d. There are several Roman furnaces in the southeast. Dating from the 2nd century AD, they are in good condition and located in the mountainous area known as \u201cCerro de la Vina\u201d in the Villarpardo district.\r\n

Festivities:<\/h4>\r\nOn 17th January, festivities are held in honour of Saint Anthony, with the burning of bonfires and the blessing of animals. The main festivities are held between 14th and 16th September: Festivity of the Holy Christ of Pity, whose procession is one of the most notable in the administrative region, the Festivities of Saint Barbara (which is also celebrated on 4th December as a local festivity, given the saint\u2019s consideration as the patron saint of miners), and the Festivity of Saint Isodore, which notable for its procession composed of the local farmers\u2019 tractors.","color":"#1b889b","fiestas":null,"gastronomia":null,"mas_informacion":null,"turist-info":[{"nombre_oficina":"Tourist Info Higueruelas","datos_oficina":"962726130 (Ayto.)"}],"turist-info_rel":null,"descargables":null,"localizacion_mapa":"
