It is situated within a National Game Reserve.\r\n\r\nCortes de Pall\u00e1s is an\u00a0inland municipality<\/strong>\u00a0located in the Valencia Region. It is one of the region\u2019s largest (over 230 km2).\r\n\r\nIts fundamental characteristic is its\u00a0isolation<\/strong>, resulting from its physical environment. Gastronomy:<\/h4>\r\nDue to the harsh winter climate, its most representative dishes are those typical to mountainous areas. Other dishes include \u201cOlla de Pueblo\u201d stew, \u201cGachamiga\u201d, \u201cGachas\u201d, \u201cMojete de Agua\u201d, \u201cMojete Arrastrao\u201d and \u201cajo arriero\u201d. During the summer months, popular dishes include gazpachos, rice with herbs and \u201cTrigo Picado\u201d.\r\nThe local bakeries serve cakes with sardine, ham, sausage and \u201cchorizo\u201d toppings. Blessed bread is made for the festivities held in the village and the surrounding hamlets.\r\n\r\nPlaces of interest:<\/strong>\r\nHeritage\r\n\r\nParish Church. Dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels. El temple was built in 1775.\r\nPalace of the Baron of Cortes de Pall\u00e1s. A baroque building dating from the 18th-century.\r\nChirel Castle. Built in the 15th-century, it is located atop a hill that is flanked by the gorges of the River J\u00facar, making it easily visible from many locations within the municipality. It can only be accessed by following a trail on foot, as the road ends at the feet of the range on which it is located.\r\n\r\nNature\r\n\r\n\u201cla Muela de Cortes\u201d\r\nThe \u201cGran Recorrido GR-7\u201d trail crosses the municipality from the Sierra Mart\u00e9s, passing through the village and exiting via the side of the \u201cMuela de Cortes\u201d range.\r\n\u201cCueva Hermosa\u201d. A karst formation cave with a multitude of galleries.\r\n\u201cLas Pozas del Ral\u201d. Pools of water of singular beauty caused by river erosion.\r\n\u201cLos Chorradores de Otonel\u201d. A group of continuous waterfalls that flow into the River J\u00facar.\r\n\u201cLos Ca\u00f1ones del J\u00facar\u201d. The canyons can be viewed from a tourist river route that goes from Cofrentes to Cortes de Pall\u00e1s. Single and return journeys are available.\r\n\r\n
