The municipality is mountainous and uneven. The main peaks are: \u201cLa Somera\u201d (981 m.), \u201cPe\u00f1a Alta\u201d (1057 m.) and \u201cLa Molatilla\u201d (1045 m.), a third-level geodesic point.\r\n\r\nThe River Turia crosses the municipality from north to south, circulating for a good stretch through a fertile plain before entering a deep gorge. The \u201cMalas Noches\u201d and \u201cRambla del Barranco\u201d ravines flow into the river.\r\n\r\nThe climate is continental. As in the neighbouring Casas Altas, the prevailing winds blow from the north, east and southwest, with the latter bringing rains in the autumn and the spring. Gastronomy:<\/h4>\r\nThe typical dish in Casas Bajas, and in all Rinc\u00f3n de Ademuz, is \u201cgachas\u201d (porridge). This caloric dish, in accordance with the local climate, is prepared in a copper pot in which salt and water are boiled and to which cornmeal or wheat is added. After cooking, the mass is beaten with a spoon. It can be accompanied by peppers, snails, salted sardines, cod, pork, rabbit, etc. The truth is, it is a dish that can be accompanied by a wide range of complements, including \u201cajoaceite\u201d. And of course, red wine.\r\n\r\nOther local dishes include stew with potatoes, beans, ham bone, blood sausage (with onion and flour), cardoons or pig\u2019s feet. \u201cMigotes\u201d (garlic, potato, tomato and bread), semolina (corn or wheat flour and lean pork), vetch (garlic and grass pea flour), gazpacho (\u201ctorta\u201d and game), \u201cpelotas de San Ant\u00f3n\u201d (breadcrumbs and bacon), Easter cakes with sausage, anise rolls and madeleines.\r\n

Places of interest:<\/h4>\r\nIts main monuments include:\r\n\r\nThe Parish Church of Saint Salvador (19th century).\r\nThe water mill (18th-century)\r\n\u201cLa Barraca Grande\u201d (an old building completely built in stone, situated in an area \u201cEl Pinar\u201d).\r\nThe River Turia crosses the municipality, and enables the practice of water sports such as rafting and kayaking.\r\nCanyoning can be practiced in the \u201cMalas Noches\u201d ravine.\r\n\r\nThere are many natural springs throughout the municipality: Armajal, Ca\u00f1ora, Vandonguillo, etc.\r\n\r\nNatural parks: \u201cLas Cambretas\u201d, \u201cLa Pe\u00f1a Alta\u201d, \u201cLa Chopera del Molino\u201d, \u201cLa Covatillas\u201d, \u201cLa Barraca Grande\u201d, \u201cLa Rambla\u201d and \u201cEl Pozo Salado\u201d.\r\n

Festivities:<\/h4>\r\nFestivities are held in honour of Saint Anthony the Abbot on 17th January, and in honour of Saint Barbara on 4th December. On 6th August, festivities are held in honour of the Saviour. They include processions, bull-running, sports competitions, popular dancing, open-air meals, children\u2019s festivities and street dancing. \u201cLos Mayos\u201d are celebrated on the last night of April. During the festivities, a draw is carried out with two \u201cdrums\u201d, in one of which are the names of the single men in the village, and in the other those of the single women. Young men and women join together in couples throughout the night.
