Aquest va passar a mans cristianes l\u0092any 1239 i, m\u00e9s tard, va pert\u00e0nyer a l\u0092Orde de l\u0092Hospital. Durant el s. XVI va ser pe\u00e7a clau en la defensa de Cullera davant els freq\u00fcents atacs dels pirates barbarescos, que assolaven les costes llevantines. En el segle XIX tornar\u00e0 a assumir un paper protagonista en la hist\u00f2ria a conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia de la Guerra de la Independ\u00e8ncia i les Guerres Carlines, i es van construir murs i espitlleres tant en la part occidental com en la Torre Major. El conjunt del Castell de Cullera est\u00e0 conformat per la fortalesa, dos recintes fortificats o albacars i cinc torres, com tamb\u00e9 l\u0092Alt del Fort, que \u00e9s visitable.
